Copper is an 8 month old male neutered Corgi/Chihuahua mix who came to rescue after spending six months chained to a tree in a yard. His owner had a stroke shortly after bringing Copper into his home and was unable to provide for this fella. Folks stepped in and helped the little dog out, and now we’re trying to get him a real Furever Family. Copper wants to be a housedog who can be right with his family. He can be a little timid to start, so a slow, quiet approach works well for him. Once you have his trust, he is utterly and completely your friend. Copper would do best in a home without other dogs, as he does have some aggression toward them, particularly in the first few days or if on a leash. It seems to be more related to fear, and he can interact fine with dogs in a house about 80% of the time. If in a home with other dogs, he should not be with small children about 5 years and younger. He still needs socialization, and a nurturing environment will set him to rights with the world. He is not yet crate-trained and would do best in a home where he can be on a bed or couch instead of a crate while introducing a crate slowly. He is comfortable with older children and overall is a sweet little guy who needs a happy ending!
