Otis was whining non-stop as we traveled down the freeway, so I unclasped his safety harness and let him out…I threatened to send him to the WATTS family, but he opted to go BACK to the animal shelter where he’d already spent 2 long stints, returned by 3 others until we cam along just intending to help rehome him as we had ZERO intentions of adopting a barking Chihuahua. He was rescued from a very bad abusive situation by a friend. He pee’d on our couch and barked non stop for days. We had thoughts of turning out for the coyotes…but he settled down, 2 months later someone was interested…she had 4 other Chihuahuas and was “willing” to take him. I was shocked when my husband said “NO, he’s no longer available…he’s found a fur’ever home”…and that was 2 yrs ago! He slowly worked his way into our hearts and he’s loves us as much as we love him! BUT…he still loves to bark. We learned that he was beaten and abused, and he was kept in a confined area. We have several acres, and a very secure, chain link fenced 2 acres for him to roam outside but ONLY when accompanied by our big Golden Retriever and then under our watchful eye.
